Job summary

Carson Valley Health is seeking a per diem Ultrasound Tech to perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations for evaluation and treatment by the attending physician.

Minimum education includes graduation from an accredited imaging-based school with current BLS certification; ARDMS or ARRT certification is preferred or planned within 6 months. The role involves reviewing records, patient interaction, image acquisition, and collaboration with radiologists.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records for patient history and supporting clinical data.
• Explain the procedure to the patient and provide care, comfort, safety and confidentiality.
• Select equipment and imaging modalities, position and prep for optimum studies.
• Perform all ultrasound techniques and examinations offered at the facility.
• Direct study to Radiologist for interpretation and assist with interpretation.

POSITION SUMMARY:

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Review medical records for patient history and supporting clinical data.


• Explain procedure to patient; provide patient care, support, comfort, safety and confidentiality.


• Select equipment and imaging modalities, position and prep, to facilitate optimum diagnostic studies.


• Perform all ultrasound techniques and examinations offered at this facility.


• Display a broad knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and pathology to obtain optin1al studies.


• Select and record preliminary study results on work sheet.


• Make pertinent measurements and label.


• Direct study to Radiologist for interpretation.


• Consult with Radiologist about unusual scans and assist with interpretation.


• Provide written unofficial reports and worksheets of examination.

• Maintain ultrasonography equipment. Recognize malfunctions and need for servicing. Ensure quality control procedures are maintained. Order department supplies.
