Job summary

San Luis Valley Health in Alamosa, CO is seeking a full-time Ultrasound Tech to join our Radiology team. You will perform ultrasound procedures and assist physicians with imaging-guided biopsies to support patient care.

Qualified candidates will have a two-year Allied health degree, ARDMS certification in physics and a specialty, and BLS certification. On-the-job training is preferred and benefits include comprehensive coverage and a strong wellness program.

Qualifications

• Two-year Allied health degree required.
• AMA approved Ultrasound Technology program or equivalent experience.
• Graduation from AMA approved Ultrasound Technology program.
• 3–6 months of on-the-job training preferred.
• Must obtain ARDMS certification in physics and one specialty within 12 months of employment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with biopsy procedures using ultrasound guidance.
• Perform ultrasound procedures including Doppler, abdominal, and OB/GYN studies.
• Prepare patients and communicate findings to radiologist.
• Archive and De-archive ultrasound data.
• Ensure correct charging of ultrasound procedures and supplies daily.
• Record data on radiologic requisitions/PACS.
• Review examinations for technical accuracy and communicate results to care team.

San Luis Valley Health is seeking a full-time Ultrasound Tech to join our Radiology team! San Luis Valley Health offers competitive pay and benefits and is located in South Central Colorado in a great community offering terrain for golfing, camping, hiking, fishing in addition to being within 30 miles from the Great Sand Dunes National Park and 90 minutes away from popular ski resorts. Qualified candidate will be certified in Ultrasound.

What You'll Need:

• A two-year Allied health degree
• Completion of an AMA approved school of Ultrasound Technology (or equivalent years of experience)
• Graduation from an AMA approved school of Ultrasound Technology
• 3 to 6 months of on the job training is preferred.
• Must obtain ARDMS certification in physics and one specialty within 12 months of employment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

What You'll Do:

• Assist physicians with biopsy procedures, guiding biopsy instrument using sonographic techniques. Perform ultrasound procedures, Doppler vascular examinations, abdominal studies and color-flow ultrasound, OB-/GYN procedures as required.
• Utilize accessory equipment such as selective transducers, multi-format cameras, printers, and PACS workstations.
• Prepare patients for procedures, explain procedures to patients. Report changes in patient condition to medical staff. Provide an oral and written summary of preliminary findings to the radiologist.
• Archive and De-archive ultrasound data.
• Collaborate in quality control of equipment and filming and obtains service as required. Proficient in the performance of ultrasound procedures. Provide direction and instruction to existing personnel and training to new sonographers.
• Ensure correct charging of ultrasound procedures and supplies on a daily basis.
• Records pertinent data on radiologic requisition/PACS at all times. (Physician’s name, date, explanation for limited examinations, contrast info, etc.)
• Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents completed examination to PACS, and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure
