Under the direction of the ultrasound supervisor and the physician, the sonographer produces and evaluates ultrasound images and related data that are used by physicians to render a medical diagnosis. Ultrasound examinations are performed safely, accurately, appropriately, and on time. The patient's physical and emotional needs, while in the department, are met compassionately and competently.
Education: Required: Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography programPreferred: Associates degree in Diagnostic Medical SonographyExperience:Preferred: Two years of ultrasound experienceOther Skills/Knowledge:Required: For safety and quality reasons, must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors and fellow members of the hospital teamLICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS: Required: Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in the specialty(ies) at time of hire.
