Job summary

Mount Sinai Morningside in New York, NY is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to perform and assist in ultrasound examinations, support radiologists, and maintain equipment.

The role requires an Associate degree or equivalent in ultrasound/sonography, ARDMS SPI and registration, and completion of specialized training. You will operate ultrasound equipment, verify patient identity, document findings, and mentor staff.

Qualifications

• AA or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or accredited Ultrasound/Sonography program.
• Successful completion of one specialty examination within 75 days from date of hire.
• Successful completion of an accredited ultrasound/sonography program within 4 months of accepting offer; ARDMS SPI exam prior to hire.
• Current ARDMS Registration with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and examine patients, verify identity, obtain health history and ensure exam correlates with clinical history.
• Operate and adjust ultrasound equipment, perform safety checks and report malfunctions.
• Explain exam instructions to patients and healthcare staff; answer non-diagnostic questions.
• Develop or modify a procedure plan based on health status and history; optimize exam results.
• Analyze sonographic findings to support diagnosis; perform measurements per protocols; minimize exposure.
• Notify providers if urgent issues arise and evaluate patient status before discharge.
• Record diagnostic images and data; provide oral summary to radiologist.
• Ensure supplies are available and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Assist in orientation and mentoring of new ultrasound personnel.
• Answer phones, schedule examinations, and arrange transportation.

Education

Associate degree or equivalent in Ultrasound/Sonography

Specialty examination within 75 days from hire

Accredited ultrasound/sonography training completed within 4 months

ARDMS SPI examination completed before hire

ARDMS registration with ARDMS issuing agency
