Job summary

St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach is seeking an Imaging Student Extern to assist under a registered Ultrasound Technologist. You will perform imaging tasks learned in school and practice clinical rotations at Tenet facilities, rotating through assignments.

This per diem role emphasizes flexibility, patient positioning, and adherence to departmental protocols while gaining hands-on ultrasound experience in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Full-time student in good standing in an accredited school of Diagnostic Sonography.
• Experience with computers is preferred.
• BLS/CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists technologist with imaging procedures and may position patient for Ultrasound exams according to department protocols and transport patients.
• Adheres to established departmental policies, safety and quality standards, works with Ultrasound staff to ensure smooth operation.
• Prepares written documentation of patient history and imaging findings in radiology records.
• Ensures equipment function, cleanliness, and organized work areas.
• Checks availability of supplies and accessories needed for exams.
• Demonstrates flexibility and ability to work in stressful situations; performs other duties as assigned.
