Job summary

Rochester Regional Health's Gouverneur Hospital seeks an Ultrasonographer to perform high-quality ultrasound imaging and assist in the daily operations of the ultrasound department. You will support RNs and physicians during interventional procedures, coordinate the daily schedule, maintain equipment, and uphold professional standards and infection control.

Qualifications

  • Required ARDMS/CCI/ARRT certification within 18 months of hire.
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited ultrasound program or related allied health program with ultrasound experience.
  • Alternative pathway for non-CAAHEP ultrasound programs with documented ultrasound experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in performing Ultrasound examinations.
  • Maintains departmental equipment by following OEM guidelines and reports issues to Manager/Biomedical.
  • Follows infection control procedures and universal precautions.
  • Reports issues to departmental Manager.
  • Participates in departmental performance improvement and completes annual training and CE requirements.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for personal professional development by CE requirements.

Job description

Job Title: Ultrasonographer Department: Imaging Services Location: Gouverneur Hospital Hours Per Week: Per Diem Schedule: Per Diem

SUMMARY: Performs high-quality ultrasound imaging. Assists in the daily routines of the ultrasound department. Assists the RN and physician in the performance of interventional procedures. Responsible for the coordination and ongoing evaluation of the daily schedule in fitting in add on exams. Comply with the professional and ethical standards of the American Association of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide direct patient care in performing Ultrasound examinations.
  • Maintains departmental equipment by following OEM guidelines, reporting equipment failure or concerns to the departmental Manager and Biomed.
  • Follows P & P for infection control, universal precautions, and isolation procedures when required.
  • Reports any issues to the departmental Manager.
  • Universal criteria: Participates in departmental performance improvement.
  • Completes all required annual training and competencies.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for personal professional development by participating in CE requirements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Registry with ARDMS, CCI, ARRT required within 18 months of hire date
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited ultrasound program OR Graduate of a two-year allied health education program that is patient care related, such as radiologic technologist, respiratory therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist or registered nurse with 1 year completion of documented ultrasound clinical experience/employment OR Graduate of a non-CAAHEP-accredited ultrasound program with 1 year of full-time documented ultrasound experience.

  • Registered Sonographer with ARDMS, CCI or ARRT

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. Any physical requirements reported by a prospective employee and/or employee’s physician or delegate will be considered for accommodations.

PAY RANGE:

$37.45 - $55.18 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
