Job summary

Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Sonographer to support the Imaging Center in Bay Creek. The role performs abdominal, vascular, OB/GYN, and neurovascular ultrasound exams, producing high-quality images and accurate measurements.

Responsibilities include documenting findings, precepting students, assisting in procedures, and ensuring efficiency and compassionate patient care in a per diem scheduling model.

Qualifications

  • Valid RDMS certification or eligibility within 6–18 months is required for new hires.
  • Bachelor's degree in Ultrasound or Diagnostic Medical Sonography is required.
  • BLS certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs abdominal, vascular, OB/GYN, and/or transcranial Doppler scans and produces images.
  • Obtains measurements and uses transducers with standard imaging techniques.
  • Reviews patient history and orders, and notes the scan in the chart with preliminary reporting.
  • Calls preliminary reports to physicians and assists with procedures as needed.
  • Maintains room readiness, supports education of ultrasound students, and performs other duties as assigned.

STATUS: Per Diem LOCATION: Imaging Center - Bay Creek DEPARTMENT: Imaging SCHEDULE: Per Diem; 7:45 am - 4:15 pm M-F; half day on saturday approx every 6-10 weeks

SUMMARY As a Sonographer, you play an important part in high-quality imaging exams needed to deliver quality care to our patients. Performs or assists in the performance of Vascular, Abdominal, OB/GYN, or Neurovascular Sonography exams. The primary objective is to obtain high-quality images and maximize the efficiency of the Radiologist or Neurologist while providing exceptional patient care and maintaining a consistent level of quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs abdominal, vascular, OB/GYN, and/or transcranial Doppler ultrasound scans. Produces ultrasound images and obtains all required measurements using various transducers, imaging techniques in compliance with procedure standards as determined by the physician or directing provider. Reviews patient chart for patient history information, valid orders, and clinical appropriateness. Notes the performance of the scan in the patient’s chart and completes preliminary reporting. Calls preliminary reports to doctors’ offices or nursing floors at the request of the Radiologist. Assists physicians with invasive procedures under sonographic guidance. Cleans, stocks, and prepares rooms on a daily basis. Attends hospital and departmental meetings and in-services. Provide high-quality patient care with exceptional service and compassion. Act as a resource to ultrasound students by demonstration and explanation of procedures; function as a preceptor in the orientation of new personnel. Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate OR Bachelor's Degree in Ultrasound is required for all new hires.
  • For Radiology sites/affiliates with ACR accreditation, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification required (within 6 months of graduation from Commission on Accreditation of Allied Program (CAAHEP), or within 18 months of graduation from a non-accredited program).
  • If hired prior to September 1, 2022, a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BLS Certification
  • For Radiology sites/affiliates without ACR accreditation, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification.
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. PAY RANGE: $35.00 - $47.00 CITY: Webster POSTAL CODE: 14580 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
