Job summary

ARHS in Boone, NC seeks an Ultrasonographer to apply scientific knowledge and technical skills to provide quality patient care and diagnostic information. You will perform ultrasound imaging and support patient comfort and safety.

Requires AMA accredited education, ARDMS registration or eligibility, and BLS. You will communicate with patients, families, and staff, adhere to policies, and respond to emergencies, while maintaining compassionate, respectful care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of AMA accredited education program of health science education.
  • Clinical imaging experience from AMA accredited sonography program.
  • ARDMS registered or registry eligible; registry required within 1 year (new grad) or 2 years (on-the-job trained).
  • BLS from the American Heart Association required at hire.

Job description

The Ultrasonographer integrates scientific knowledge and technical skills with effective patient interaction to provide quality patient care and useful diagnostic information. The ultrasonographer integrates scientific knowledge and technical skills with effective patient interaction to provide quality patient care and useful diagnostic information. The ultrasonographer provides direct and indirect patient care services that meet the needs of each patient. The ultrasonographer’s decisions and actions with patients and families are determined in an ethical manner practicing compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth and unique attributes of each person. Effectively communicates with patients/families, visitors, colleagues, physicians, leadership, and volunteers. All areas of practice and care delivery are provided to achieve and maintain top decile results and outcomes for patient experience, quality, and patient safety. The ultrasonographer follows and adheres to ARHS policies and procedures; regulatory requirements and standards of behavior. The ultrasonographer practices within the practice and scope of their license.

The ultrasonographer demonstrates the ARHS Mission, Vision, and Values in action, and, approaches work in a way that reflects a bias for action, efficiency, and personal accountability. The ultrasonographer demonstrates professional conduct, effective communication, and effective completion of tasks. Position Qualifications

Graduate of AMA accredited education program of health science education

Experience

Clinical imaging experience from AMA accredited sonography program

Required Registration/License/Certification

ARDMS registered or registry eligible

Must obtain registry within one year of hire if new graduate; If on-the-job trained, must complete registry within 2 years

Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required at the time of hire

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with the public, patients, family, staff, and physician and acts within the chain of command, utilizing positive verbal and non-verbal skills

Competent in delivering safe and effective patient care within legal limits of license and certifications and hospital policies and procedures

Knowledge of the continuum of care provided in the patient care department

Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service to patients, family, staff, and physicians

Physical Demands

Continuous standing and walking long periods = to or greater than > 8 hours per shift

Speaking, reading, and writing, expanded > 8 hours per day

Exposed to vibration and cramped spaces > 1-hour day

Frequently mobilizes patients > 4 hours per day

Frequently per shift: lifts, carries, pushes, and/or pulls > 50 lbs.

Frequently per hour: bends, squats, kneels, twists, turns, and reaches

Frequently per minute: hand, finger, and wrist repetition and moderate dexterity

Frequently per hour: exposed to soft voices > 3 feet away

Frequently per hour: exposed to close eye work

Frequently per shift: may be exposed to Ionizing/nonionizing radiation exposure, including x-ray and microwave

Frequently exposed to acoustic energy.

Working Conditions

Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases
