Job summary

A leading urology practice in Columbus, Ohio is seeking a skilled Ultrasonographer responsible for performing diagnostic imaging using ultrasound technology. The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Sonography, possess current RDMS and CPR certifications, and have at least one year of experience. They will prepare patients, operate ultrasound equipment, and analyze the resulting images for physicians. Job description

* Reviews patient’s medical history and physician’s instructions. Prepares equipment for procedure. Selects appropriate equipment settings. Explains procedure to patient and records any medical history that may be relevant to the condition being viewed. Directs the patient to move into positions that will provide the best view.* Spreads gel on the skin to aid in the transmission of sound waves.* Operates special equipment to direct nonionizing, high-frequency sound waves into areas of the patient’s body. The equipment collects reflected echoes and forms an image that may be videotaped, transmitted, or photographed for interpretation and diagnosis by a physician.* Views the screen during the scan, looking for visual cues that contrast healthy areas with unhealthy ones. Selects images to show the physician for diagnostic purposes. Takes measurements, calculates values, and analyzes the results in a preliminary report for the physicians.* Keeps patient records and adjusts/maintains equipment.* Complies with safety, infection control, and quality improvement policies/procedures.**What We Expect from You*** Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in sonography from an accredited school.* Current RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) Certification* Current CPR certification**Physical Demands**The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Sonography, or ultrasonography, is the use of sound waves to generate an image for assessment and diagnosis. The Ultrasonographer may specialize in obstetric/gynecologic, abdominal, neurosonography or breast sonography. **What You’ll Be Doing** Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum of one years of experience working as a certified Ultrasonographer**Reasoning Ability** Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. **Computer Skills** To perform this job successfully, an individual should have thorough knowledge in computer information systems. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This job operates in a professional office environment.
