Job summary

OhioHealth in New Albany, IN seeks an Ultrasound Technologist to independently perform ultrasound examinations and collaborate with radiologists to aid diagnosis. You will review findings and contribute to patient care in a fast-paced imaging department.

The role requires an Associate’s Degree with ARDMS, ARRT, and RDMS certifications, plus BLS. You will teach imaging students, maintain equipment, and ensure QC. Day shift; hospital imaging department.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in diagnostic medical sonography or related field.
• ARDMS certification required.
• ARRT and RDMS certifications recommended.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs various ultrasound examinations and assists Radiologists with invasive procedures.
• Evaluates normal vs abnormal results in context of patient history and prior exams.
• Provides preliminary ultrasound results to physicians and other staff.
• Teaches imaging students and residents in ultrasound methods and instrumentation.
• Maintains equipment, stocks supplies, and performs quality control with documentation.

Job Description Summary:

This position independently performs requested ultrasound examinations, searching for any possible pathology as indicated by the patient’s symptoms/medical history and/or results from previous testing. The position reviews and discusses the ultrasound findings with the radiologist and a diagnosis is made.

Responsibilities And Duties:

• 60%
  Performs various ultrasound examinations. Subjectively interprets information based on judgmental decisions by Ultrasonographers, requiring in-depth knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and pathology. Maintains complete knowledge of wave form physics, i.e., , time gain compensation curves, attenuation factors, etc. , required to set equipment variable properly for appropriate imaging of specific anatomy. Assists Radiologists with performance of invasive procedures.

  Independently evaluates normal vs. abnormal test results in correlation with patient history, previous examinations, lab results, etc.
• 10%
  Independently gives preliminary ultrasound results to attending physicians, surgeons, residents, etc. regarding any vascular ultrasound procedures as determined by site accreditation.
• 10%
  Teaches/educates imaging students, medical students and residents in basic scanning methods and instrumentation of ultrasound.
• 10%
  Maintains equipment and stocks supplies. Performs quality control procedures and maintains documentation.

Additional Job Description:

1-2 yrs ultrasound training from an accredited training program. Must have passedthe American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Must have passed the abdominal or OB/GYN and physics/instrumentation. 1-2 yrs previous ultrasound experience(clinical training acceptable). BLS Certification.
