Job summary

Ancestry is seeking a part-time contractor Content Writer who is passionate about family history and UKI genealogy to join the Contextual Content team. You will work with the Editor and Program Manager to complete writing assignments on time while ensuring the tone mirrors Ancestry’s standards.

This role requires UKI expertise, creating new collection descriptions, revising legacy content for accuracy, and writing compelling family history stories for StoryScout.

Qualifications

• Must have experience with UKI genealogy research and writing.
• Experience writing historical content and stories.
• Strong editing and research skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments.
• Familiarity with tone guidelines and style guides.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Editor and Program Manager to revise and complete each writing assignment.
• Conduct in-depth historical research to support assignments.
• Write content for record descriptions, personalized stories, and blog posts.
• Ensure content follows style guidelines and maintains consistent tone and quality.
• Verify facts with thorough research and citations.
• Meet all submission deadlines for assignments.
• Provide status updates to Editor and Program Manager as requested.
