Job summary

Hims & Hers is seeking a Senior Manager of Data Science to lead the UK team as part of its global data science function. You will define the roadmap, unblock technical decisions, and develop reports into stronger leaders while collaborating with US counterparts across two countries.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Data Science or ML Engineering, including 2+ years directly managing data scientists or ML engineers.
• Early-Stage Team Experience: Track record of joining or helping shape a brand-new team, office, or region from an early stage.
• Distributed/International Collaboration: Experience working on or leading a team split across countries or significant time zones.
• Proven People Leadership: Track record of developing and retaining data science talent, including calibrating performance and managing through periods of team growth.
• Technical Credibility: Strong enough in Python, SQL, and applied ML to review your team's technical decisions.
• Prioritization Under Constraint: Ability to sequence a roadmap across competing stakeholder demands with limited headcount.
• Executive Communication: Comfortable translating technical work for senior leadership.
• Engineering Rigor: Familiarity with production ML systems (cloud environments, CI/CD, ML Ops).
• Education: BS, MS, or PhD in a quantitative field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Help Establish the UK Team: shape working norms, technical culture, and onboarding for data scientists.
• Lead as One Distributed Team: operate UK team with US-based data science org, maintaining standards and priorities across time zones.
• Shape the Roadmap: prioritize Marketing, Operations, Product, and Finance requests into a shared roadmap and tradeoffs.
• Stay Technically Close: review designs and code to catch technical issues without daily production coding.
• Unblock Ambiguity: tackle high-ambiguity problems when extra hands are needed.
• Set the Technical Bar: enforce standards for review, docs, monitoring, and experimentation.
• Own Delivery: ensure 0-to-1 builds ship and deliver business outcomes.
