Job summary

NS2 Mission in Chantilly, VA is seeking a UI/UX Developer to blend user-centered design with front-end development. You will work with product managers, engineers, and mission stakeholders to turn research into intuitive interfaces for complex systems.

From wireframes to production-ready components, you will help ensure accessible, responsive experiences, contribute to design systems, and participate in Agile ceremonies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Information Systems, or a related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Professional experience in UI/UX design, front-end development, interaction design, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct user research and translate findings into effective interface designs.
  • Experience creating wireframes, prototypes, and user flows using modern design and prototyping tools.
  • Hands‑on experience with React, Next.js, or comparable modern front‑end frameworks.
  • Solid knowledge of HTML and CSS and modern responsive web development practices.
  • Understanding of user‑centered design principles, visual design fundamentals, and usability best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to balance user needs, design requirements, and technical considerations.
  • Experience collaborating with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct user research and gather feedback to better understand user needs, behaviors, workflows, and pain points.
  • Translate user and business requirements into wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity interface designs.
  • Apply HTML and CSS along with modern front-end practices to create accessible and visually consistent experiences.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and stakeholders throughout the design and development lifecycle.
  • Build reusable interface components and contribute to scalable design systems and component libraries.
  • Apply principles of color theory, typography, layout, and grid systems to create cohesive visual experiences.
  • Evaluate designs through usability testing, stakeholder feedback, and iterative refinement.
  • Promote accessibility and responsive design practices across applications and user experiences.
  • Support the transition from design concepts and prototypes into production-ready front-end components.
  • Contribute to Agile/Scrum ceremonies and collaborate closely with development teams to ensure designs are implemented as intended.

Salary Range: $131,644.00 To $190,789.00 Annually

Help create intuitive digital experiences that make complex mission systems easier to understand and use. Join NS2 Mission as a UI/UX Developer in Chantilly, VA, where you'll combine user-centered design principles with modern front-end development to create effective, accessible, and visually cohesive applications.

You'll work closely with product managers, software engineers, and mission stakeholders to understand user needs, translate requirements into thoughtful designs, and bring those concepts to life through functional interfaces. From early research and wireframes through prototyping and implementation, you'll help ensure applications are intuitive, consistent, and built around the people who rely on them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Experience designing responsive and mobile‑first interfaces.
  • Background contributing to design systems, reusable components, and UI libraries.
  • Experience creating animations, transitions, and micro‑interactions that enhance usability.
  • Experience planning or conducting usability testing and incorporating findings into iterative designs.
  • Familiarity with Agile or Scrum development methodologies.
  • Experience working with development teams to translate design specifications into production‑ready components.

Salary and Benefits Information:

The salary range for this position is $131,644.00 to $190,789.00 . The proposed range is intended as a general guideline. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, location, and contractual considerations and may fall outside of the stated range.
