State of Maryland's Maryland Department of Labor seeks a UI Professional V Benefits-Supervisor to assist the DUI Director in planning and managing daily operations, lead BPC Supervisors, and establish internal controls protecting UI funds, data, and staff integrity.
Responsibilities include coordinating claims processing, guiding UI Professionals, training on Beacon processes, monitoring workload to ensure timely benefit payments, and maintaining records and performance evaluations.

THE MAIN PURPOSES OF THIS POSITION ARE TO ASSIST BPC DIRECTOR IN DEVELOPING, PLANNING, COORDINATING AND MANAGING THE DAILY OPERATIONS WITHIN THE BENEFITS PAYMENT CONTROL UNIT (INVESTIGATIONS AND OVERPAYMENT AND RECOVERIES SECTIONS) FOR THE DIVISION OF UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE (DUI) IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR (USDOL); WILL DIRECTLY LEAD BPC SUPERVISORS; ASSIST IN CREATING POLICIES, PROCEDURES, AND ESTABLISH INTERNAL CONTROLS THAT EFFECTIVELY PROTECT THE INTEGRITY AND SECURITY OF UI PROGRAM STAFF, PROGRAM OPERATIONS AND SYSTEMS, UI FUNDS, UI DATA AND OTHER STATE ASSETS; TO REDUCE THE POSSIBILITY OF INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL FRAUD BY MINIMIZING PROGRAM VULNERABILITIES AND FAULTY PROCEDURES; AND TO HELP PREVENT IDENTITY THEFT.
Experience: Eight years of experience in a public/or private agency rendering and/or determining eligibility for a Human Service Program, or an insurance claims processing and fraud investigations program OR four years of experience in administrative staff or professional staff work and an additional four years of experience in a public/or private agency rendering and/or determining eligibility for a Human Service Program, or an insurance claims processing and fraud investigations program.
Experience preparing reports, correspondence, or program-related documentation.
Experience analyzing facts, evidence, or program information to make recommendations or determinations.
Personnel employed in this classification will have access to federal tax information and must undergo a state and FBI criminal background check as a condition of employment. All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (MD Labor/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to MD Labor/DUI as a result of unemployment insurance overpayment/fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.
