Salary: The range for this position is $23.39/hr.-$36.19/hr. The final rate depends on collective bargaining, experience, qualifications, and budget. Typically, offers are not at the top of the range.

Position Summary: Under RN supervision, the Nursing Technician delivers patient care based on the Relationship-Based Care model, supporting outcomes and organizational goals through therapeutic relationships and interdisciplinary teamwork.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with patient admission, transfer, discharge, and activities of daily living; operate care equipment; promote safety and skin integrity.
  2. Document patient info in EHR (vital signs, care provided, intake/output).
  3. Advocate for patients/families, providing comfort and information; relay feedback to RN or LPN.
  4. Demonstrate teamwork and communication aligned with UI Health values for quality, safety, and environment.
  5. Participate in leadership activities; support department goals.
  6. Identify and help solve clinical or unit issues.
  7. Collaborate on staff and student learning experiences.
  8. Engage in professional growth and development.
  9. Perform other duties and participate in projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. CNA license from an accredited program and registration with Illinois Department of Public Health.
  3. Current BLS/CPR and other required certifications.
  4. Basic computer skills; ability to learn EHR systems.
  5. Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history.
