Position Summary

The Staff Nurse I provides direct patient care, aims to improve outcomes through evidence-based practice, and collaborates with the healthcare team. Responsibilities include developing care plans, verifying orders, patient advocacy, and supporting professional growth. The role involves organizational and leadership activities, including serving as a preceptor and/or resource.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and update patient care plans based on assessments and family input.
  • Share information and collaborate with healthcare team members.
  • Verify and implement physician orders, document accurately.
  • Engage with patients and families for educational planning.
  • Recognize symptoms, prioritize, and respond to changing needs.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately, support staff, and provide feedback.
  • Advocate for patients, families, community, and profession.
  • Use current standards and evidence to deliver quality care.
  • Assume Charge Nurse role when assigned.
  • Mentor and serve as a resource for staff and students.
  • Engage in professional development.
  • Perform other duties and participate in projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • RN licensure in Illinois.
  • Current BLS/CPR and unit-specific certifications.
  • BSN degree.
  • Minimum one year of Labor and Delivery experience.
  • Shift availability: 11p-11a, 11p-7a, rotating weekends.
  • ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in EHR.
  • Excellent attendance and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic EFM training/certificate; ability to obtain AWHONN fetal monitoring certification.
