Job summary

United Hospital Center, part of WVU Health System, is seeking a licensed Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or MT for night shift on a PRN/part-time basis.

You will perform and analyze clinical lab tests across disciplines, operate instruments, maintain quality control, and ensure safety and compliance under SOPs.

Ideal candidates hold an AAS in Medical Laboratory Technology or related science, WV HCTP or trainee license, ASCP/AMT certification preferred, and have prior MLT experience.

Qualifications

• AAS in Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Technology or related science.
• WV license requirement: WV HCTP or Trainee license.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process and analyze samples accurately and meet productivity standards.
• Set up, run, maintain, and adjust laboratory instruments per SOPs.
• Perform quality control and infection control procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy on patients as needed.
• Document results and communicate with nurses/physicians.
• Collaborate with healthcare team to interpret results.
• Maintain patient/specimen records accurately and legibly.
• Follow hospital and departmental safety and infection-control policies.
• Communicate with patients, families, and staff professionally.
• Recognize testing inconsistencies and take corrective action.

Maintain all patent and specimen records accurately, neatly, and legibly.10. Follow hospital, state, and federal guidelines for ensuring a safe environment for workers, patients, and public.11. Maintain compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures for safety, security, and infection control.12.
