UFT QA Engineer

Job summary

Our client in New York is seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to design, build and maintain robust automation for APIs and web applications using UFT. You will collaborate with BAs, developers and management to translate requirements into test cases and acceptance criteria.

The role requires Python scripting, experience with Selenium/Cucumber, and a strong grasp of DevOps tooling (Bamboo/Jenkins) and Atlassian suite. Onsite work in NYC/Chicago after onboarding is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience with automation testing of APIs and web apps using UFT.
• Experience building automation with Bamboo/Jenkins in DevOps.
• SQL/NoSQL databases (Oracle/Postgres, MongoDB/DynamoDB).
• Translate requirements or user stories into robust test cases and suites.
• Excellent communication and Scrum/Agile experience.
• Python scripting experience.
• Familiarity with Selenium and Cucumber.
• Experience with Atlassian toolchain (Bamboo, Bitbucket, JIRA, Confluence).
• Microservices testing including event broker validation.
• Exposure to financial industry domain.
• Performance testing experience.

• Develop, maintain and execute automated tests using UFT.
• Support overall QA activities by contributing to and developing sophisticated automation frameworks that are efficient, flexible and reusable.
• Contribute to acceptance criteria, requirements and user stories.
• Create automation scripts for validation of front end, services and data
• Develop understanding of business domain, data expertise in the domain and ensure data quality for allocated areas of ownership.
• Partner with cross-functional team members – business analysts, developers and management to build and refine test cases & contribute to acceptance criteria, user stories and requirements.
• Find solutions to blocking issues and problems.
• Influence the team to design and build for testability.
• Create automated reports on test execution and status.

Required Skills:

• Experience with Automation Testing of APIs & web and client server applications with UFT.
• Developing and integrate Automating testing with DevOps tools like Bamboo and Jenkins.
• Design and development using database technologies, including relational (e.g. Oracle/Postgres), NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB/DynamoDB).
• Translate requirements or user stories to test cases and creating a robust test suite.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
• Experience with Agile ways of working and working in Scrum-based Agile teams
• Experience scripting and testing with Python
• Exposure to Selenium and the Cucumber frame work
• Atlassian toolkits such as Bamboo, BitBucket, JIRA and Confluence
• Micro Service Architecture testing experience including event broker validation
• Exposure to the financial industry domain
• Performance testing experience
