Job summary

Metropolitan Community College Nebraskan Campus is seeking an UBMS Tutor - Math to help high school students understand math concepts and strengthen learning skills. You will support classroom content and guide students in applying Microsoft Office tools such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel, while navigating MCC systems to support tutoring activities.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in progress or completed with GPA 3.25+ and B or better in math.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The UBMS Tutor - Math assists high school students in gaining a better understanding of math area course content and helps develop learning skills to enhance the students' academic experience.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

• Assist students with understanding assignments and concepts in a specialized subject area.
• Assist students with academic applications of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Assist students with navigating MCC systems and software.
• Assist with other general UBMS Tutoring tasks as assigned.
• Attend work activities or programs as scheduled or assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of subject matter to be tutored.
• Ability to explain complex subject matter with patience and attention to detail.
• Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other college supported systems.
• Excellent communication skills, including active listening.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to demonstrate cooperation and professionalism in stressful situations.

• Associate's degree in progress or completed and overall cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better and received a "B" or better in math.
