Job summary

Insight Global in Moorpark, CA seeks a Mechanical Engineer III with 6+ years of experience on flying vehicles to join a design team developing UAV systems. You will design, analyze, and test mechanical components for autonomous helicopters and VTOL UAS, applying GD&T from concept through field testing on a 9/80 schedule.

You will integrate electrical and mechanical subsystems, use SolidWorks/ePDM, and assess manufacturing methods with a focus on first principles and reliability.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of mechanical engineering experience on flying vehicles.
• Experience integrating electrical and mechanical subsystems into unmanned air vehicles.
• SolidWorks/ePDM experience; familiarity with machining, sheet metal, composites, 3D printing, injection molding.
• Strong use of engineering first principles.
• Ability to develop aircraft subsystem layouts and perform architectural trade studies.
• Experience evaluating supplier performance data and performing engineering analyses (structural, thermal, electrical).
• BS or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering; eligible for Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, modify, analyze, repair and test tools, engines, and other mechanical equipment.
• Support development of next‑generation UAV systems and subsystems with hands‑on assembly and testing.
• Dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) from concept through field testing.
• Collaborate with design teams and evaluate supplier data.
