Job summary

Compass Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced UAS Pilot/Operator to support USSOCOM RDT&E activities in Yuma, Arizona.

You will conduct Group 1-3 UAS flight operations, perform mission planning, inspections, launch/recovery, and postflight procedures, while coordinating with engineers and government personnel to ensure readiness. The role demands hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, payload evaluation, and independent execution of flight operations within an integrated test environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years UAS experience.
• Experience operating Group 1-3 UAS platforms.
• Experience performing maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Experience supporting UAS ground and flight operations.
• Ability to diagnose discrepancies and perform corrective maintenance.
• Must hold FAA Second-Class Medical Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Group 1-3 UAS flight operations in support of RDT&E activities.
• Perform mission planning, preflight inspections, launch/recovery, and postflight procedures.
• Support development and operational flight testing, aircraft acceptance testing, and FCFs.
• Operate and evaluate UAS payloads, sensors, and mission systems.
• Maintain operator qualifications, proficiency, and flight currency.
• Identify and document aircraft discrepancies and limitations.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, minor repairs, and servicing.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose aircraft mechanical, electrical, avionics, and comms systems.
• Support software/firmware updates and aircraft modifications.
• Maintain maintenance records and corrective action reports.
• Coordinate with engineering to resolve deficiencies and support improvements.
