Job summary

COLSA is seeking a UAS Integration Engineer & Test Pilot in Huntsville, AL to lead end-to-end integration of Group I–III UAS, including design, testing, programming, and flight operations for both multi-rotor and fixed-wing platforms.

The role blends hands-on engineering with advanced flight operations and FPV piloting for development, demonstrations, and customer missions, with travel up to 25% and eligibility for security clearance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• 5-8 years of UAS engineering, integration, or flight operations experience.
• 1-2 years of FPV flight experience with advanced manual flight proficiency.
• Proficiency with embedded systems and interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN).
• Experience with PX4 and ArduPilot on multi-rotor and fixed-wing.

Responsibilities

• Design, assemble, integrate, test, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize UAS.
• Configure, program, calibrate, and troubleshoot UAS subsystems and payloads.
• Plan and execute manual, FPV, and autonomous flight operations.
• Ensure compliance with FAA regulations and safety practices.
• Conduct pre-flight planning, risk assessments, and inspections.
• Collect, analyze flight test data and prepare reports.
• Support rapid prototyping, integration, validation, and testing.
• Document build procedures and testing methodologies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to meet objectives and milestones.
• Provide technical support during field testing and customer demonstrations.
