Monitor the manufacturing processes and operations and conduct inspections of a broad range of fabrications, subassemblies, assemblies, component parts, purchased material and tooling to assure compliance with customer and NG specifications and standards where procedures and techniques are normally established.

Manufacturing To inspect and evaluate material and clarify standards - Frequent
Engineering To clarify standards or to evaluate questionable material - Occasional
Resident Government/Inspectors To discuss defective parts/materials and clarify standards - Frequent
Customer Representatives/ Underwriter Inspectors
Purchasing/Vendors To discuss defective materials - Frequent
Advise shop personnel in proper procedures with regard to quality problems. Provide guidance to lower classified inspectors.
Receives work assignments from supervisor and accomplishes work assignments essentially on own initiative. May receive assistance and guidance from higher classified inspectors.
High school graduate and courses in Engineering Drawing, Metrology, Physics and Mathematics through Trigonometry or the equivalent.
At least two years experience as an Inspector or the equivalent related experience including machining, assembly, nondestructive testing and welding. Prefer familiarity with the division’s products, manufacturing methods and procedures. Must read and understand drawings using the geometric tolerancing and dimensioning system.
