Job summary

Saab, Inc. is seeking a self-starter to advance U.S. import compliance and customs authorization for defense and commercial programs. You will write import policies and SOPs, coordinate with brokers, and help design how U.S. imports are authorized, documented, and measured.

The role requires building relationships across sites, reviewing entry packets, maintaining HTS classifications, and supporting ACE and other internal systems. Travel 5%–10% annually.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in international business, supply chain, or related field with 3+ years in U.S. import/customs operations or 1 year with a Master’s degree.
  • Experience with CBP entry, HTS classifications, and broker coordination.
  • Familiarity with DSP-61, TIB, Carnet, ITAR, DFAS/DFARS documentation.
  • Ability to write or improve procedures, playbooks, or trackers used by others.
  • Strong communication skills to explain issues clearly and drive decisions.
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency and comfort in ACE or a GTM tool.

Responsibilities

  • Construct and run the U.S. import control framework, including entry review and CBP inquiries.
  • Build relationships with sites, brokers, and forwarders to ensure compliant handoffs.
  • Draft import policies and SOPs covering clearance, licenses, and recordkeeping.
  • Coordinate imports/exports with Saab international affiliates.
  • Review entry packets, resolve HTS, valuation, and origin issues before broker filing.
  • Manage HTS classifications and communicate with export teams on ECCN/USML questions.
  • Administer DFEs under HTSUS 9808.00.30 and coordinate DCMA certificates.
  • Oversee TIBs, carnets, DSP-61 licenses, and ITAR authorizations; track close-out.
  • Support ACE activities, including duty accuracy and cost-center coding.
  • Maintain compliance with broker and forwarder relationships and KPIs.
  • Approve ISR and domestic tariff questionnaires as assigned.
  • Document activity in OCR EASE/SharePoint and shape the system of record.
