Job summary

Saab, Inc. seeks an experienced import compliance professional to lead the U.S. import control program, author policies, and coordinate with brokers and site shipping teams.

You will ensure cross-border moves comply with CBP, ITAR, and DSP-61 requirements while building scalable processes. You will work with international affiliates, support ACE, and maintain documentation across platforms to enable efficient, compliant imports and exports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in international business, supply chain, or related field with 3+ years in U.S. import/customs operations or import compliance.
  • Understanding of CBP entry, HTS classification, and broker filing.
  • Export control literacy to flag DSP-61, TIB, Carnet, or ITAR issues.
  • Experience writing or improving procedures, playbooks, or SharePoint trackers.
  • Strong communication skills to explain issues clearly.
  • Excel proficiency and familiarity with ACE or a GTM tool.
  • U.S. citizenship or eligible for security clearance; may require DoD clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Construct, improve, and run the U.S. import control framework including entry review and CBP inquiries.
  • Build relationships with site shipping, programs, brokers, and forwarders for handoffs.
  • Draft and operationalize import policies and SOPs including licenses and DFEs.
  • Coordinate imports/exports with international affiliates and U.S. entities.
  • Clear imports through Customs by reviewing entry packets and resolving issues.
  • Assign HTS classifications and coordinate ECCN/USML questions with export team.
  • Manage DFE under HTSUS 9808.00.30 via PIEE; coordinate DCMA certificates; maintain DFARS 252.225-7013 docs.
  • Manage TIBs, carnets, ITAR licenses/exemptions, tracking, close-out, retention.
  • Support ACE for imports and cost-center coding; assist with taxes payments.
  • Support customs bonds, U.S. and NRI Canada, and powers of attorney.
  • Manage broker/forwarder compliance KPIs; ensure SOPs and authorized-broker list.
  • Approve ISR and domestic tariff questionnaires as assigned.
  • Document activity in durable systems of record (OCR EASE, SharePoint) and shape the UI/UX.
  • Use SharePoint to replace informal knowledge with repeatable processes.
  • Assess sites against import requirements and address gaps directly.
  • Travel domestically and 5–10% internationally annually.
