Job summary

McWane, Inc. in Anniston, AL is seeking CNC Machinists to set up, operate, and monitor CNC equipment for ductile iron components with a strong focus on safety.

Weekend shifts start at $25.24 per hour plus a $3.50 per hour shift premium. Candidates may have 0–1 year of related experience and must pass drug, physical, and background checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree or technical training preferred.
• One year of experience in the division as a driller or pattern rigger is acceptable.
• Basic computer skills are needed.
• Ability to calibrate and read precision measuring devices; working knowledge of mills and lathes tooling.

Responsibilities

• Follow setups and tooling instructions from Supervisors/Team Leads.
• Perform pre-shift inspections, start machines, and conduct first part inspections.
• Learn and follow all work instructions and quality checks.
• Measure dimensions with precision instruments and ensure parts meet specs.
• Operate machines safely and efficiently and adjust tooling as needed.
• Maintain neat, orderly workstation and document inspections.

General Duties and Responsibilities

• Promote and uphold The McWane Way principles, values, and behaviors.

Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)

• Follow Supervisor/Team Lead instructions for setups and tooling.
• Conduct pre-shift inspections, start machines, and perform first part inspections.
• Learn and follow all the work instructions.
• Measure dimensions of finished workpieces using precision instruments.
• Operate machines efficiently and safely.
• Mount, install, align, and secure tools and fixtures under supervision.
• Make minor fixture adjustments under supervision.
• Stop machines to remove finished workpieces or change tooling/setup.
• Ensure proper lubrication and cooling of workpieces.
• Verify and record first part inspections.
• Insert control instructions into machine control units.
• Listen for issues during operations and make adjustments.
• Replace dull cutting tools.
• Maintain a neat and orderly workstation.

Education and/or Experience

• Preferred: Associates degree in a technical field or training in a vocational school.
• Required: High school diploma or GED.
• Consideration: One-years’ experience within the division as a driller or pattern rigger.
• Computer Skills: Possess and use basic computer skills.
• Mastery: Ability to calibrate and read precision measuring devices. Working knowledge of mills and lathes tooling.
