Job summary

PSR Talent Solutions is assisting a Texas-based heavy civil contractor in hiring an Estimator to support TxDOT and highway/infrastructure projects. You will develop detailed, competitive estimates from quantities, labor, materials, and equipment, and prepare bid packages for projects ranging from $5M to $200M.

You'll collaborate with Operations, PMs and leadership to shape bid strategy, review drawings and specs, and ensure accurate unit-cost calculations.

Qualifications

• Proven estimating experience within heavy civil construction.
• Experience pricing TxDOT highway, bridge, roadway or infrastructure projects.
• Proficient in bottom-up estimating and/or unit-cost estimating.
• Strong knowledge of earthworks, drainage, utilities, concrete, asphalt and highway construction methods.
• Experience preparing competitive bids for projects valued between $10M and $200M.
• Strong knowledge of construction costs, crew productivity, equipment utilisation and project risk.
• Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid, B2W Estimate or similar estimating software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and competitive estimates for TxDOT and heavy civil construction projects.
• Develop accurate bottom-up and unit-cost estimates, incorporating labor, materials, equipment, production rates and subcontractor costs.
• Review drawings, specifications, bid documents and project requirements.
• Complete detailed quantity takeoffs and establish realistic unit rates based on construction methods and anticipated productivity.
• Evaluate construction sequencing, site conditions, resource requirements and project risks.
• Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Work closely with Operations, Project Managers and senior leadership to develop competitive bid strategies.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits and bid reviews.
• Support the handover of successfully awarded projects to delivery teams.
