Job Description

Summary/Object: The Journeyman Electrician position is responsible for performing diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain facilities according to safety, predictive, and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the customer’s business goals and objectives. We furnish a company vehicle, all fuel, vehicle maintenance, and a company phone. We offer paid vacations, sick days, paid holidays, and voluntary plans in health insurance and ancillary insurance.

Responsibilities/Duties

  1. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  2. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  3. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  4. Work on both residential and commercial new installs and remodeling jobs.
  5. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, ensuring compliance with codes.
  6. Test electrical systems and circuit continuity in wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  7. Perform final connections.
  8. Take pictures, write detailed work orders, and submit paperwork both physically and via email.
  9. Use a company phone, apps, email, and communicate effectively.

Essential Functions

  • Perform diversified duties to install and maintain facilities.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs and scheduled maintenance.
  • Perform service repair duties, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, troubleshooting, and repair of facilities.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and adjust.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance.
  • Use hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
  • Detect faulty operations and defective materials, reporting issues to supervision.
  • Maintain safety regulations and clean work areas.
  • Take before and after photos of each service.
  • Check in/out on company and customer systems.
  • Submit monthly vehicle condition reports.
  • Maintain insurability under company insurance.
  • Maintain good attendance and record work time according to procedures.
  • Answer phones as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

Work is performed in office, warehouse, outdoor, and shop environments, with exposure to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise.

Physical Demands

This role requires talking, hearing, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, and frequently lifting/moving items over 75 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Position Type/Hours

Full-time, with hours depending on service schedule, including on-call duty and overtime availability.

Travel

Travel is expected, with a company vehicle and fuel card provided.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Electrical Journeyman License
  • High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship or equivalent experience

Additional Qualifications

  • Strong background in at least two skill sets: Electrical, Plumbing, Drywall Repairs, Painting, Flooring, Carpentry, Locks.
  • Own hand tools, pass drug screen and background check.
