Job summary

St. Paul Academy and Summit School in Saint Paul, MN, seeks a Lower School Principal to lead curriculum, programs, and operations for ~250 students across two campuses. You will guide teachers, support staff, and families, shaping a warm, rigorous environment consistent with SPA’s mission.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred), 5–10 years of Lower School experience with administrative leadership, and strong communications. Competitive salary and benefits available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Five to ten years of lower/elementary experience, with school administrative experience preferred.
• Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the Lower School and ensure alignment with SPA's mission.
• Educational leader of the Lower School, managing day-to-day operations and policies.
• Create a comprehensive learning environment addressing developmental needs of younger students.
• Oversee Lower School curriculum with cross-grade coherence in collaboration with key Directors.
• Hire, supervise, evaluate, and support professional growth of Lower School faculty and staff.
• Manage substitute teacher needs in coordination with Administration.
• Maintain a collegial culture and lead regular faculty meetings.
• Articulate the Lower School vision to students, families, and the community.
• Collaborate with student support to address academic and social-emotional development; develop action plans.
• Manage the Lower School budget with the business office.
• Serve on Head’s Council and annual committees; coordinate with Operations/Security on facilities.
• Lead and coordinate community events and orientation meetings.
• Supervise Lower School Leadership Team; participate in hiring other Pre-K-12 administrators.
• Travel weekly to Pre-K and 6-12 campuses for meetings and check-ins.
