ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a maintenance technician responsible for building and grounds upkeep in a full-time tenure-track role. The job requires licenses in boiler operations or willingness to obtain one, plus HVAC or electrical certification, carpentry skills, snow removal, and general groundskeeping duties.

The position oversees preventive maintenance, repairs, and safety inspections, and requires strong teamwork.

• Experience in sheetrocking and general carpentry a must.

• Perform tasks to keep school buildings and grounds neat, clean and orderly
• Inspect equipment and facilities and recommend repairs to supervisor
• Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for efficiency
• Check building entrances/exits to ensure proper operation
• Open/close building and secure doors/windows
• Maintain motors and mechanical equipment
• Obtain equipment and materials for assigned work
• Maintain inventory and place orders as needed
• Prepare records of work and repairs
• Must be a team player

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance tasks to keep buildings and grounds in order.
• Repair or replace equipment as directed by supervisor.
• Maintain and service HVAC systems for seasonal comfort and efficiency.

• Open/close buildings and ensure security on leaving.

• Snow removal
• Perform tasks to keep school buildings and building and grounds in orderly, neat, and clean condition such as clearing disposing of trash, cleaning bathrooms and floors, washing windows, dusting furniture and fixtures, mowing grass, and related tasks.
• Perform tasks to maintain buildings and grounds in safe and operable condition, such as making minor repairs to property as requested, clearing snow and ice, and related tasks.
• Inspect equipment and facilities, and recommends repair or replacement action to supervisor.
• Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical use of fuel, water, and electricity.
• Check all building entrances/exits to ensure that they are working properly
• Open and close building and ensure that all doors and windows are closed and securely locked prior to leaving.
• Maintain motors and other mechanical equipment and ensure that such equipment receives scheduled servicing.
• Obtain equipment, tools and materials required for completion of assigned work.
• Maintain inventory of supplies, materials, equipment, and fuel, and places orders as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of maintenance tasks.
• Inspect equipment and facilities, and recommends repair or replacement action to supervisor.
• Prepare and maintains records to document work and repairs as requested.
• Must be a team player
• Additional Hours May Be Required During Emergencies.
• Must complete other tasks as requested.

Ranges from $49,452.00-$66,782.00

If you already work for the school district as of September 1, 2011, and you do not live in New Jersey, you are not required to move to New Jersey. However, if you begin your office, position or employment on September 1, 2011 or later, you must reside in New Jersey. If you do not reside in New Jersey, you have one year after the date you take your office, position or employment to relocate your residence to New Jersey.
