Job summary

Mohawk Industries is seeking a Twister Operator in Alabama to set up, operate, and tend a frame of machines that twist yarn. You will load yarn, reposition buggies, thread ends, and monitor outputs while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

You will do doff operations, inspect yarn with basic quality checks, and perform routine housekeeping. Prior yarn/manufacturing experience is preferred; and physical labor is required in a fast-paced plant.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Successful completion of required on-the-job training.
• Successful completion of required safety training.
• Previous Yarn or Manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Creel single or double ply yarn packages and load yarn into twister.
• Reposition buggies of yarn at the twisters and stage tubes for winder operation.
• Thread ends of single yarns, operate the spindle, and repair breakouts during production runs.
• Doff twisted yarn packages and transfer them to a buggy or container.
• Monitor production output and machine equipment for safe operation.
• Clean and dechoke spindles to maintain efficiency.
• Perform quality checks using black lights to check yarn.
• Attend training and follow SOPs and safety procedures.
• Perform general housekeeping and other tasks as assigned.

TWISTER OPERATOR

Primary Objective

In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position. Set up, operate, and tend to many machines organized into a frame that twist yarn together.

Major Function and Scope

• Creel single or double ply yarn packages and load yarn into twister
• Reposition buggies of yarn at the twisters and stage tubes for winder operation
• Thread ends of single yarns, operate the spindle, and repair breakouts during production runs
• Doff twisted yarn packages and transfer them from the conveyor to a buggy/container
• Monitor production output and machine equipment for safe and efficient operation
• Clean and dechoke spindles to maintain machine efficiency and meet production requirements
• Perform quality checks using black lights to check yarn
• Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision
• Follow all established standard operating and safety procedures as well as company policies
• Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
• Perform other tasks assigned by management

Years Of Experience And Knowledge

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Successful completion of all required on the job training
• Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training
• Previous Yarn or Manufacturing experience is preferred

Physical Requirements / Other Pertinent Job Information

• May require bending, squatting, climbing, and other physical movement for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently

• Working in an environment where there may be regular exposure to chemicals, noise from machinery, dust, fumes, and variable temperatures
