Job summary

Mohawk Industries in Roanoke, Alabama is seeking a Twister Operator to set up, operate, and tend to a frame of yarn twisting machines. You will load yarn, monitor output, perform quality checks with black lights, and follow all safety procedures.

Prior manufacturing experience is preferred and strong teamwork is essential. This role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work around moving equipment, and participate in on-the-job training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of on-the-job training and health/safety training.
• Previous yarn or manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Creel single or double ply yarn packages and load yarn into twister.
• Reposition buggies of yarn at the twisters and stage tubes for winder operation.
• Thread ends of single yarns, operate the spindle, and repair breakouts during production runs.
• Doff twisted yarn packages and transfer them from the conveyor to a buggy/container.
• Monitor production output and machine equipment for safe and efficient operation.
• Clean and dechoke spindles to maintain machine efficiency.
• Perform quality checks using black lights to check yarn.
• Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision.
• Follow all established standard operating and safety procedures as well as company policies.
• Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
• Perform other tasks assigned by management

TWISTER OPERATOR

Primary Objective:

Set up, operate, and tend to many machines organized into a frame that twist yarn together.

Major Function and Scope:

• Creel single or double ply yarn packages and load yarn into twister
• Reposition buggies of yarn at the twisters and stage tubes for winder operation
• Thread ends of single yarns, operate the spindle, and repair breakouts during production runs
• Doff twisted yarn packages and transfer them from the conveyor to a buggy/container

Knowledge, Experience, Certifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Successful completion of all required on the job training
• Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training
• Previous Yarn or Manufacturing experience is preferred

Physical Requirements / Other Pertinent Job Information:

• May require bending, squatting, climbing, and other physical movement for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
• Working around moving equipment and in an industrial environment
• Working in an environment where there may be regular exposure to chemicals, noise from machinery, dust, fumes, and variable temperatures
