General Description:
The Suicide Prevention Manager will serve as a vital team member of the Veterans Mental Health Department (VMHD) responsible for actively participating in TVC’s efforts to reduce suicide among Texas veterans and service members. This includes providing training to veteran-serving organizations and community stakeholders on suicide prevention efforts and related mental health constructs (e.g., evidence-based practices, screening/assessment, risk factors, protective factors, gatekeeping, prevention, crisis intervention, postvention, lethal means restriction, etc.). This also includes working closely with stakeholders including governmental agencies, local coalitions, and community partners on cross-agency efforts, projects, and initiatives aimed at reducing suicide.

Minimum Education:
Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or other field relevant to mental health. College Transcripts are required and must be provided before an interview can be extended; it is preferred they be attached to the application.
Minimum Experience:
Five (5) years of experience in providing mental health services.

Environmental & Physical Conditions:
Normal office work environment, mostly sedentary in nature. May involve walking; standing; remaining stationary for long periods of time; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping, and bending; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds. Work involves extensive telephone usage and repetitive hand/wrist/finger motions while using the computer.
