Job summary

Lamar State College Port Arthur is seeking a Part-time Tutor/Testing Assistant to support student learning and testing services in the Student Success Center. The role includes tutoring, administering assessments, and assisting with front desk duties.

Responsibilities cover instructional support, record-keeping, and participation in staff development while ensuring campus policies are followed and student needs are met.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics to support college readiness.
• Desire to assist students with special needs in a learning environment.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring for students, focusing on study strategies.
• Provide instructional assistance in the computer lab.
• Monitor attendance and alert faculty about student issues.
• Administer TSI pre-assessments and assessments; analyze results to determine remediation options; administer HESI exams.
• Keep records of tutorials.
• Participate in professional development.
• Assist with front desk duties: check-in students, answer calls, schedule tests.
• Assist Testing & Student Success Center Coordinator in training new student workers.
• Comply with campus policies and procedures.
• Other related duties as assigned.
