Job summary

Texas A&M International University is seeking a Tutor II (ACE) to provide routine non-classroom academic instruction on campus in Laredo, TX. The role supports ACE - Academic Support and requires a bachelor’s degree with relevant tutoring experience.

Position is temporary/casual with a fixed term and up to 19 hours per week, paying $11.35 per hour. Remote work is not offered; on-campus duties revolve around student sessions and reporting.

Job Summary

Provides routine non-classroom, academic instruction tostudents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Meet students and go over their homework assignments inapplicable subject area.
• Ask students about specific topics or subject areas thatwarrant further exploration.
• Review homework and test scores and work through problems orquestions.
• Provides study aids to assist. May perform as lead for otherTutors.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Education - bachelor's degree.
• Experience - Two year of relevant experience.
• Must not be currently enrolled as an undergraduate atTAMIU.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Experience working with college/university students in aneducational setting.
• Tutoring experience in content area.

Knowledge and Abilities

• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and inwriting.
• Ability to interact effectively, professionally, and tactfullywith students, faculty, and other university personnel.
• Ability to motivate students.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to arrange and keep a work schedule.
• Strong academic knowledge in content area.
• Computer literate in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
• Ability to prepare and facilitate workshops, presentations, andorientations to groups of students.

Other Requirements

• Position requires on campus, face -to-face interactions.
• Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendanceon campus and in the workplace.
• Position requires keeping a work schedule of 19 hours perweek.
• Posting may require working evening and/or weekend hours.
• Position is contingent upon funding.

Pay of Rate: $11.35/hour for up to 19 hours weekly
