**Job Title**Tutor II (ACE)**Agency**Texas A&M International University**Department**ACE - Academic Support**Proposed Minimum Salary**Commensurate**Job Location**Laredo, Texas**Job Type**Temporary/Casual Staff (Fixed Term)**Job Description****Job Summary**Provides routine non-classroom, academic instruction to students.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities*** Meet students and go over their homework assignments in applicable subject area.* Ask students about specific topics or subject areas that warrant further exploration.* Review homework and test scores and work through problems or questions.* Provides study aids to assist. May perform as lead for other Tutors.* Performs other related duties as assigned.This document represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions.**Additional Responsibilities*** Tutor students, individually and in groups.* Facilitate learning of course material.* Model effective learning and study strategies for content mastery.* Attend assigned classes.* Arrange and keep working hours at ACE.* Develop and maintain a professional relationship with course instructors.* Maintain confidential records.* Prepare reports.**Minimum Requirements*** Education – bachelor’s degree.* Experience – Two year of relevant experience.* Must not be currently enrolled as an undergraduate at TAMIU.**Preferred Education and Experience*** Experience working with college/university students in an educational setting.* Tutoring experience in content area.**Knowledge and Abilities*** Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.* Ability to interact effectively, professionally, and tactfully with students, faculty, and other university personnel.* Ability to motivate students.* Ability to maintain confidentiality.* Ability to arrange and keep a work schedule.* Strong academic knowledge in content area.* Computer literate in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.* Ability to prepare and facilitate workshops, presentations, and orientations to groups of students.* Ability to think critically and solve problems.**Physical Requirements** – NoneThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
