Job summary

Qualifications

• ParaPro Assessment Test passing score required or demonstrated alternative.
• Minimum one year of experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Generates tutoring plans for each student detailing goals and enrichment activities.
• Develops academic exercises and assists students with class activities, focusing on small groups or individuals as needed.
• Prepares materials and classroom setup for instruction and learning activities.
• Reinforces knowledge and skills taught by the classroom teacher.
• Assists teacher with instruction and daily routines, providing tutoring support as needed.
• Collects data for accountability and program development and completes required reports.

Purpose and Scope

The Before/After-School Certified tutor is responsible for the professional instructions designd to provide academic, social, physical and skill development for students in specifiv grades/subject areas to prepare them to be successful citizens and workers.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree, or two (2) years of college (minimum of 48 semester hours) from an, or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test and one (1) year of experience working with children in an educational setting preferred. Must possess or be able to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED)

Degree Equivalency Formula:Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.

• Compiles, prepares, and organizes materials and classroom for instruction and other learning activites.


• Reinforces all knowledge and skills taught by the classroom teacher.


• Assists teacher with academic instruction and the instruction of daily routines, skills, and concepts as needed.


• Provides instructional support and reinforcement to students identified in need of tutoring services.


• Utilizes effective instructional practices, behavior management strategies, assessment techniques and directed teaching methods.


• Collects and compiles statistical data as needed for accountability and program development.


• Collects, organizes and completes information necessary for reports and evaluation.


• Communicates and collaborates effectively with teacher.
