Job summary

Sylvan Learning Center, the nation's leading provider of educational services, is seeking part-time instructors to work at our West Covina learning center. We teach students from Pre-K through High School at varying levels to boost confidence and independence, providing them with lifelong skills.

As an Instructor, your primary responsibilities are teaching and building rapport with students. NO LESSON PLANS!

Qualifications

• Four year degree or equivalent preferred but not required.
• State or provincial teaching credentials preferred but not required (current or expired).
• Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience preferred.
• Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension preferred for reading teachers.

Responsibilities

• Teach and build rapport with students.
• NO LESSON PLANS required; focus on individualized instruction.
• Supervise, interact with, and motivate students.
• Evaluate and document student progress.
• Communicate student needs to the center director.
• Inspire and develop a rapport with students.
• Establish a fun learning environment.
• Maintain a positive attitude and enthusiasm for teaching at Sylvan.

We are currently looking for experienced tutors to work at our West Covina learning center, experienced in the following:

• MATH (up to Algebra 2 or beyond)
• READING/WRITING (up to 12th grade)
• TEST PREP (with training).
