Job summary

The Florida Department of Transportation seeks a Turnpike Maintenance Technician to perform hands-on maintenance and repair of complex building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life-safety, generators, UPS, elevators, and more. You will manage work orders, supervise contractors, and respond to emergencies while ensuring safety and FDOT standards.

Based in Boca Raton, the role includes inspecting outsourced work, interpreting technical plans, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of skilled trade work such as plumbing, electrical and carpentry.
• Experience with building management systems (BMS) and safety procedures.
• Ability to read floor plans and as-built drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on maintenance and repair of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life-safety, generators, UPS, elevators).
• Oversee contractors to ensure safety, codes and FDOT policies are followed.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies and maintain organized spaces and purchasing records.
• Inspect outsourced work and interpret technical plans while enabling project progress.
