Role and Responsibilities
- Install or replace split system or packaged HVAC systems up to 20 tons.
- Fabricate and install piping associated with installations, including soldering and brazing (copper, steel, brass).
- Install gas lines, condensate lines and pumps, water lines.
- Install sheet metal and flex duct systems in light commercial buildings.
- Measure, modify, and install ductwork.
- Complete HVAC system installations, including demo, startup, and documentation.
- Start up and verify system performance.
- Recover, secure electrically, and demo existing equipment as needed.
- Verify leak-free operation, test, and check system functionality.
- Diagnose and repair system deficiencies found at startup.
- Maintain records of installation, startup, and warranty activities.
- Use hand tools, interpret drawings and plans to install and test systems.
- Identify HVAC equipment and components accurately.
- Understand refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, control systems, and airflow in unitary systems.
- Adhere to mechanical, sheet metal, and piping codes.
- Identify and recommend repairs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience in residential or light commercial split-system installations.
- Ability to recover, evacuate, and recharge systems.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Own hand tools required.
- Successful background check and drug test.
- Flexible schedule including days, nights, and weekends.
- HVAC technical training completed or in progress (Community College, OJT, Military training).
- Possession or ability to obtain Universal Certification.
- Physical ability to perform required tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs., working in various environments, and physical demands listed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Work Environment
Exposure to weather, extreme temperatures, high noise levels, electrical hazards, chemicals, vibration, moving mechanical parts, and high places.
