Avispa Technology is seeking a Turning Machinist in Santa Rosa, CA to support precision manufacturing on onsite CNC equipment including Swiss lathes and multi-axis centers. The role emphasizes maintaining high quality, accuracy, and process efficiency while collaborating across engineering and production teams.

You will set up and run machining processes, interpret drawings and GD&T, utilize metrology tools for inspection, and contribute to process development and NPI efforts.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Machinist certification preferred.
  • Experience with CNC turning centers and multi-axis CNC machines.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience with CAM software and CNC programming.
  • Familiarity with CAD/Solid modeling and metrology equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and sustain CNC turning centers and related equipment.
  • Interpret drawings and GD&T to ensure part dimensions and tolerances.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Production and Schedules to improve processes.
  • Apply CAM programming and CAD tools to optimize production.
  • Maintain safe, organized work area and production documentation.

  • 40 hours/week, 24 Month Assignment

A leading electronics testing company is seeking a Turning Machinist to support precision manufacturing operations by developing and sustaining machining processes using advanced CNC equipment, including Swiss-style lathes, mill/turn centers, Wire EDM, and multi-axis machining centers to manufacture high-precision components while maintaining exceptional quality, accuracy, and process efficiency.

Turning Machinist Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and sustain precision machining processes using CNC turning centers, Swiss-style lathes, mill/turn machines, Wire EDM, and 3- to 5-axis machining centers to manufacture high-precision components.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T specifications, and process documentation to ensure machined parts meet dimensional, quality, and production requirements while utilizing advanced metrology equipment for inspection and verification.
  • Support process development, continuous improvement, and new product introduction (NPI) activities by collaborating with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and Scheduling teams to optimize machining operations and resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Utilize CNC programming, CAM software, CAD/solid modeling, tooling, and machining best practices to improve process capability, productivity, and product quality while maintaining accurate production documentation.
  • Maintain a safe, organized work environment while demonstrating flexibility, teamwork, attention to detail, and a commitment to learning advanced machining technologies and manufacturing processes.
Turning Machinist Qualifications
  • Journeyman Machinist certification preferred.
  • Experience operating CNC turning centers, Swiss-style lathes, mill/turn machining centers, Wire EDM, or multi-axis CNC machining centers.
  • Experience with CNC programming and CAM software.
  • Knowledge of CAD and solid modeling software.
  • Experience using advanced metrology equipment for precision inspection.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with tool grinding and precision machining techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, Management, and NPI Scheduling teams.
