Job summary

Sietsema Farms Inc is seeking a highly motivated individual to oversee turkey flock care, ensure welfare, and maintain a clean barn environment. The role includes operating and troubleshooting farm equipment and technology in a hands-on, barn-based setting.

Responsibilities include daily bird inspections, proper handling, and collaboration with team members to meet production targets. Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work varied shifts, and learn farm systems are required.

Qualifications

• Reliable work ethic and punctuality required
• Independent transportation to and from the farm
• Valid driver’s license is mandatory
• Desire to work with animals and willingness to perform physically demanding tasks
• Ability to operate or learn farm machinery and equipment
• Willingness to perform morning chores and alternating weekend shifts
• Farm experience preferred but not required; maintenance/mechanical skills are a plus

Responsibilities

• Care for turkeys and monitor bird welfare
• Daily inspections and proper handling of birds
• Maintain clean barn facilities and production areas
• Operate feeding, watering, and production equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance on barn and machinery
• Respond to emergencies and troubleshoot barn technology
• Follow animal care guidelines and complete paperwork/checklists
• Communicate with team and off-site managers via email/phone
• Work independently or as part of a team
• Attend to farm technology needs and equipment troubleshooting
• Assist with weekends and holiday shifts as needed
