Job summary

The Protestant Episcopal Cathedral foundation is seeking a Turf & Athletic Field Specialist to implement athletic field and turf maintenance and assist in general upkeep on all properties on the Cathedral Close. Responsibilities

• Implements athletic field and turf maintenance and assists in general maintenance and upkeep on all properties on the Cathedral Close.
• Undertakes field preparation for sports and other field maintenance duties in a timely manner and coordinates activities with the athletic departments and grounds crew.
• Provides technical assistance on turf practices and oversees the Integrated Pest Management Program for turf.
• Assists with irrigation system maintenance, installation, and repairs, and supports year-round grounds-related tasks including snow and leaf removal, and landscape renovations.
• Cleans and returns all tools and equipment to storage and performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

Implements athletic field and turf maintenance and assists in general maintenance and upkeep on all properties on the Cathedral Close.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Undertakes field preparation for sports and other field maintenance duties in a timely manner. Under the direction of the Assistant Director, coordinates activities with/between the athletic departments, STA Fields Groundkeeper and Groundskeeper/Flex Crew.
• Assists Assistant Director in implementing turf maintenance program for the Close and works with the groundskeeper/turf crew member to ensure superior turf and proper maintenance.
• Under the direction of the Assistant Director, provides technical assistance on all proper turf practices and oversees the Integrated Pest Management Program for turf.
• Assists Irrigation Specialist with maintenance on Foundation irrigation systems, including installation, maintenance and repairs. As needed, assists with a wide range of grounds-related tasks throughout the year including general maintenance, snow removal, leaf removal, Flower Mart, and landscape renovations.
• Cleans and returns all tools and equipment to proper storage area.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Certification, Years Experience):

Working Conditions (Schedule, Physical Demands, Work Environment):

• Normal work hours are Monday-Friday 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., although must remain flexible as work priorities shift and include overtime and/or varying shift hours. Must be able to work required overtime, often with little advance notice (for example, snow removal, storm damage). Schedule overtime includes annual events.
• Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather-extreme cold and heat, high winds, rain and snow for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to perform physical work including bending, stooping, and reaching. Must be able to work on feed for extended periods of time, and to lift, carry and push at least 50 pounds.
