Job summary

Cowboy Space Corporation is seeking an experienced mechanical/manufacturing engineer to own turbopump hardware manufacture from DfM to final assembly. You will define build processes, routings, and inspection plans on the factory floor, and drive iterative design improvements for cost and manufacturability.

You’ll lead tooling development, ensure contamination control, and supervise assembly throughput while partnering with suppliers to qualify new processes and equipment for production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or related engineering field.
• Hands-on experience with precision machining, GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and CMM inspection.
• On-floor ownership of build and assembly processes.
• Experience dispositioning nonconforming hardware and directing rework.

Responsibilities

• Own turbopump build process definition, including routings and work instructions.
• Own turbopump assembly on the floor with balance, clearance, and torque control.
• Design and build tooling for machining, assembly, and handling.
• Drive DfM and cost optimization through design iterations.
• Maintain cleanliness and contamination control for pumps.
• Disposition nonconformances and lead rework development.
• Improve build cycle time, yield, and ramp production.
• Support suppliers on process capability and first article qualifications.
