Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a secondary flow engineer to join the turbomachinery team and advance power generation capability. You’ll be responsible for the definition of the secondary flow path for Valar’s power generation turbomachinery and work with cross-functional teams to define a manufacturable, high-efficiency, robust design.

As an early hire, you will influence design decisions on system architecture, collaborate with engineers and operators, and help build transformative energy technology

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, with experience in secondary flow systems.
• Experience analyzing secondary flow systems from either a systems perspective or from a seal design perspective.
• Experience with rotating seal design or seal procurement.
• Master's degree preferred in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Proficiency with AxStream, Concepts NREC, and Dyrobes.

• Conduct trade studies of seal configurations and drive actionable architecture decisions from them

As part of the Engineering organization, Power Con v ers ion develops the technologies that efficiently transform reactor-generated heat into usable electrical power . The team focuses on maximizing system performance, reliability, and commercial viability.

The Role

Basic Qualifications

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Master's degree in Mechanicalor AerospaceEngineering
• Experience with commercially available secondary flow analysis packages (AxStream, Concepts NREC,Dyrobes)
• Experience with supercritical C02
• Experience conducting 3D CFD analyses of secondary flow paths in turbomachinery
• Experience with thermodynamic cycle analysis
