Job summary

Valar Atomics in Los Angeles seeks a turbomachinery structures engineer to join the turbomachinery team and advance power generation capability. You’ll analyze rotating components for structural margin and life, quantify deflection, and help define high‑efficiency, manufacturable designs for robust operation.

As an early hire, you will directly influence system architecture, collaborate with cross‑functional partners, and work toward scalable, factory‑made energy technology from the ground up,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience conducting structural analysis of rotating components.
• Experience with commercial FEA codes (ANSYS, Nastran, Abaqus).
• Experience with high-speed rotating equipment in gas turbines, steam turbines, blowers, turboexpanders, turbopumps.

Responsibilities

• Analyze turbomachinery components for structural margin and life.
• Quantify turbomachinery deflection and growth in operation.
• Partner with cross functional partners to define required clearances.

As part of the Engineering organization, Power Con v ers ion develops the technologies that efficiently transform reactor-generated heat into usable electrical power . The team focuses on maximizing system performance, reliability, and commercial viability.

The Role

Valar Atomics is seeking aturbomachinerystructuresengineer to join the turbomachinery team and advance power generation capability. In this role,you’llbe responsible fòranalyzingrotating componentsfor Valar’s power generation turbomachinery.You’llbe working withcross-functionalteam members to define a manufacturable,high efficiency, robust design.As an early hire in turbomachinery, you will be able to directly influence design decisions on the system architecture.

Basic Qualifications

• Knowledge of casting or forging processes
• Experience with supercritical C02
