Job summary

Belcan Corporation in Brisbane, CA / near San Francisco is seeking an experienced engineer to own engine component life and materials support. The role covers lifing, materials science, and FEA analysis across subsystems, with hybrid work options for a contract-to-hire path.

You will perform simulations, interpret test data, and develop reduced-order models to strengthen hardware reliability. Bachelor's in engineering required; 4–8 years preferred, MS/PhD advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Materials Engineering.
  • 4–8 years in component life/durability or a relevant PhD plus ~2 years.
  • Component life calculations for static and rotating parts (fatigue, creep, oxidation).

Responsibilities

  • Interface with Responsible Engineers to provide inputs for design, generate predictions for candidate designs, and ensure REs understand physical phenomena.
  • Prepare, run, and post-process relevant simulation models including FEA, CFD, and Heat Transfer as applicable.
  • Analyze test, qualification, and field data in collaboration with REs to qualify hardware and maintain fleet reliability.
  • Drive simplicity into the Parallax analysis stack by developing simplified and reduced-order models that conservatively capture physical phenomena at the minimum level of complexity that enables functional hardware.

Scope & Ownership

Owns product life and materials support across the engine: component life (LCF / HCF / creep / oxidation), materials & processes (M&P) and materials science, and general FEA / ANSYS 'surge' capacity for the subsystem teams. Crossover: lifingstructuresthermal across all subsystems.

Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's in Mechanical, Aerospace or Materials Engineering
  • Master's or PhD preferred
Experience
