Job summary

Gillett Diesel Service is seeking a skilled Turbocharger Technician to join our shop team in Bluffdale, Utah. You will diagnose, disassemble, inspect, and rebuild turbochargers for a range of applications, ensuring precision and reliability.

You will work with OEM and high-performance parts, perform balancing and actuator calibration, and conduct final quality checks before delivery. A strong mechanical background and hands-on experience with engines and boosting systems are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on mechanical experience with engines or rotating equipment.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, dial indicators, calipers).
• Experience operating dynamic balancing equipment and actuator testers.
• Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, oiling systems, and boost mechanics.
• High school diploma or equivalent or vocational training.

We specialize in the repair, rebuild, and performance optimization of turbochargers for light-duty, heavy-duty, and other applications. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Turbocharger Technician to join our shop team.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosis & Inspection: Disassemble, clean, and thoroughly inspect turbocharger components for wear, damage, or manufacturing defects.
• Rebuilding & Assembly: Precision-assemble turbochargers using OEM and high-performance aftermarket parts to exact specifications.
• Precision Balancing: Perform high-speed component core balancing using specialized equipment.
• Machining & Modification: Utilize shop machinery (lathes, bead blasters, etc.) for housing modifications, or surface refinishing.
• Actuator Calibration: Test, calibrate, and set up pneumatic, vacuum, and electronic actuators (including VGT/VNT systems).
• Quality Control: Conduct final inspections, pressure testing, and leakage checks before customer delivery.
• Salary based on experience
