X4 Engineering is seeking a Turbine Technician to support operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial gas turbines at customer sites across the United States.

You will monitor performance, perform preventative maintenance, assist with commissioning, and maintain accurate logs. Travel and remote site work are required; a valid driver's license and ability to pass background checks are needed. This is a field-based role with rotation and safety focus.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training or equivalent experience in electrical or mechanical power generation systems preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with gas turbine controls, instrumentation, or electrical systems.
  • Experience with aero-derivative or industrial turbine platforms is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor gas turbine systems and auxiliary equipment.
  • Monitor control systems, instrumentation, and operating parameters for optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot faults with operations leadership and technical support teams.
  • Assess equipment condition after shutdowns and assist in return-to-service evaluations.
  • Perform electrical power distribution tasks including cable routing, terminations, and inspections.

Job description

Location: Various project sites across the United States, primarily in Texas and New Mexico.

Schedule
  • Rotational assignment: 14 days on / 14 days off
  • Standard rotation runs Thursday through Wednesday, with travel required before and after scheduled shifts
Position Overview

A leading power generation services provider is seeking a Turbine Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial gas turbine systems and associated balance-of-plant equipment. This role involves monitoring equipment performance, performing preventative maintenance activities, and assisting with troubleshooting and commissioning efforts at customer sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of gas turbine systems and auxiliary equipment.
  • Monitor control systems, instrumentation, and operating parameters to maintain optimal equipment performance.
  • Coordinate with operations leadership and technical support teams to troubleshoot faults and resolve equipment issues.
  • Assess equipment condition following shutdowns or operational interruptions and assist in return-to-service evaluations.
  • Perform electrical power distribution activities including cable routing, terminations, inspections, and system verification prior to energization of medium-voltage equipment.
  • Follow company safety procedures, operational standards, and site-specific policies to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain accurate operational logs and maintenance documentation.
  • Assist with diagnostics and troubleshooting of turbine controls, instrumentation, and HMI systems.
  • Utilize operational software platforms and digital tools to improve system performance and reporting.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on power generation efficiency and reliability.
  • Participate in the installation, startup, and commissioning of turbine packages and related systems.
  • Conduct routine visual inspections and walk-downs of operating equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support field operations and customer requirements.
Basic Requirements
  • Ability to successfully complete background screening and pre-employment drug testing.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license required.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work at remote project locations.
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training or equivalent experience in electrical or mechanical power generation systems preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with gas turbine controls, instrumentation, or electrical systems.
  • Experience with aero-derivative or industrial turbine platforms is highly desirable.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Experience working with generators, engines, switchgear, or automatic transfer systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with electrical testing and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, insulation testers, process meters, amp probes, and high-potential testing devices.
  • Ability to complete required safety training and annual recertifications, including industrial safety and emergency response programs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities related to electrical and control systems.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and field personnel.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and other digital maintenance or operational platforms.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented field environment.
  • Strong understanding of equipment controls, sequencing, and operational logic.
