AMP - Accelerated Mobile Power is looking for an experienced Turbine Operator for our facility in The Woodlands, Texas. The operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operations of gas turbine packages, performing routine checks and troubleshooting as necessary.

The ideal candidate should have a High School Diploma or GED, along with electrical generation theory or equivalent experience. We value strong communication skills and a commitment to safety in a challenging work environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of previous gas turbine controls/instrumentation/electrical experience.
  • Successfully pass all applicable general pre-employment testing including background check.
  • Possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Job description

Level: Experienced | Location: AMP_Field - The Woodlands, TX 77380 | Position Type: Full Time | Travel Percentage: Up to 90% | Job Shift: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off

Position Summary

The Turbine Operator for Accelerated Mobile Power is responsible for the operation and maintenance of turbines used in power generation or mechanical drive systems. This role requires monitoring turbine operations, conducting routine checks, and responding to any abnormalities in turbine performance.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operations of gas turbine packages and related equipment.
  • Regularly monitor control panels, gauges, and other instruments to ensure optimal turbine performance and operational parameters.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Operational Excellence Center (OEC) for fault-finding support and troubleshooting.
  • Evaluate the operational readiness of equipment after shut-down events and assist with the evaluation of readiness of gas turbines and related equipment.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices in power generation operational areas.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and operations according to company standards and policies, conducting work in accordance with safety rules, standard operating procedures, and workplace policies.
  • Maintain daily verification of operational log completion and maintain accurate records of operations and maintenance activities.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts on gas turbines and human-machine interfaces.
  • Understand and apply available software for operational efficiency.
  • Aid in the development and implementation of power generation efficiencies.
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of gas turbine packages and related equipment.
  • Perform external visual checks of equipment, including walk‑around inspections.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support successful operations and business continuity.
Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • Successfully pass all applicable general pre-employment testing including background check, pre-employment drug screening, pre-employment fit tests, pre-employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s).
  • Possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
  • Daily in-person, predictable attendance.

Education / Experience Level:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Electrical Generation Theory or Navy GSE certification required or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of previous gas turbine controls/instrumentation/electrical experience.

Skills, Competencies and Abilities:

  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend intermediate English.
  • Ability to read electrical/controls drawings.
  • Ability to attend, participate, and successfully complete scheduled New Hire Safety training, including H2S, Powered Industrial, and basic First Aid and CPR training.
  • Attend and successfully complete annual safety recertification training.
  • Ability to work within a team concept to successfully complete assigned tasks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical systems issues.
  • Ability to take instruction well and interact with other employees in a positive manner within the framework of assigned work groups.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
  • Fully knowledgeable, compliant, and take initiative to promote and work with digital platforms including Active Learner, Paycom, KPA, and other company mandated systems. For new hires, ability to quickly learn company platforms.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to communicate in a technical manner with clients.
  • Advanced knowledge of equipment controls and logic.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment

Daily requirement to walk, sit, climb, bend, reach and squat/kneel. When required, employees may rideshare with multiple employees. Work environment includes exposure to hazardous materials, operating conditions, audio up to 85 dB and inclement weather, including typical and atypical outdoor elements and extreme cold and hot weather temperatures. Given these conditions, employees are required to wear company mandated and issued personal protective equipment (PPE) (fire retardant coveralls, safety hat, steel‑toe boots, safety glasses, ear protection and safety gloves) and must strictly adhere to all safety policies. Turbine Operators may be required to lift heavy objects; therefore, a Turbine Operator must be able to lift 49 lbs. independently and 50‑100 lbs. with a team lift. Work hours may include early morning, late evenings, and weekends, depending on job demands.
